400 Mile Sale Rt 68 is the “Route 66″ of Kentucky - tons of fun!

Four days, 400 Mile Sale and hundreds of antiques, yard sales, craft booths, and special events await you! Travel Hwy 68-80 through Kentucky for four great days of shopping, eating and just being entertained. Special events planned all along the route.

Historic Highway 68 was once a major thoroughfare across Kentucky. But due to bypasses, interstates and parkways, many people have forgotten how much these communities have to offer. We want to change this. Twenty-five counties and more than 60 communities have come together and are participating in a 400 Mile 4-day sale along this historic route! We see it as a huge opportunity for businesses and communities to entice visitors to once again stop by and rediscover the many hidden treasures each area has to offer.

The 400 Mile “Antiques, Collectibles and Stuff” four-day sale across Kentucky June 5-8 goes from east to west along historic highway 68 from Paducah to Old Washington and back again! Not only are there over 400 antique shops along this route, there will be hundreds of dealers and booths set up all along the way with everything you can imagine (and even things you can’t). Visit nearly 60 historic communities, enjoying Kentucky cuisine, unique dining experiences and southern hospitality at every stop. Come taste our grits, cornbread, hot browns, biscuits and ham, sweet ice tea, and hot apple pies as you “shop til you drop”.

Visit our website at 400Mile.com or call (270)781-6858 if you are interested in setting up a booth, hosting a yard sale or want to order a brochure which includes a map of the route. The 400Mile.com website features unique dining opportunities and special events taking place all four days, a list of B&B’s and other lodging, and “hot spots” where you will find lots and lots of sales you don’t want to miss!

You can easily tell when it is spring in Kentucky. In addition to the beautiful flowers and trees blooming, the level of equine activity increases significantly. In Lexington, Keeneland’s Spring Sales and Race Meet just ended, as did the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event at the Kentucky Horse Park. The people in Louisville, and all across the state, are busy preparing for the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby.

Kentucky Horse Farm for sale in the Lexington Bluegrass area - Harrodsburg, KY

This Spring has been exceptionally exciting for us at the World Games 2010 Foundation. http://www.feigames2010.org/ Earlier today we announced our network broadcasting partner for the Games - NBC Sports. NBC has a long history of covering equine events and is a perfect fit for the Games. In fact, be sure to watch the NBC broadcast of this year’s Kentucky Derby on Saturday, followed by the broadcast of Rolex highlights on Sunday afternoon.

Another program we launched just a few weeks ago is for our official volunteer registration. It has been fascinating to see the widespread enthusiasm from both Kentuckians and people from all 50 states and 48 countries. To date, we have more than 5500 registered to volunteer in some capacity for the Games. We wanted to share with you what the Games mean to so many folks, so we are including some quotes that we received from volunteers in this newsletter. http://www.feigames2010.org/

We thank everyone for your continued support of the Games and of our efforts to stage the best world championships ever in 2010. If you want to volunteer - I Want To Volunteer for the 2010 Equestrian Games

A High-Flyer Grounds Herself With a Vineyard http://www.equusrunvineyards.com/

After traveling the world for IBM, Cynthia Bohn transforms her Kentucky vineyard into a tourist destination.
By: Janet Holloway | 11/30/2007

IBM marketing executive Cynthia Bohn was presenting a case study on the Robert Mondavi Winery to the Harvard Club when she experienced what she calls her “retirement” epiphany.kentucky vineyards ky winery

Having worked with IBM for several years, traveling the world, she knew at that moment in 1995 that she wanted to own a vineyard in her home state of Kentucky some day. On the plane back to Kentucky, she started sketching out the business plan. By the end of 1996, at age 39, Bohn had found a partner in banker and friend Cindy Hall, bought a 38-acre farm outside of Lexington and begun her first planting. “What started as an idea became a passion,” says Bohn, “and the passion became Read the rest of this entry »

My family has all transplanted here to the Bluegrass.  My wife Cindy and I would love to have her folks here too, so we always ask them to move here where costs are much lower than New England and the living is much easier (read no snow and no harsh winters).  My Mother-In-Love, who I adore once said to me, “are there Doctors there?”.  I told her I thought so ;-)  I stumbled across these Bluegrass region stats and thought I’d share them with you.

We have: 10 Major Hospitals,  35.6% of Lexington’s workforce has a bachelor’s degree or higher, Lexington has over 550 restaurants (good for us, we like to eat out), Kentucky has 49 state parks, there are 8 colleges and 5 universities in the Bluegrass.  Lexington alone has over 1460 doctors!  Lexington has 15 golf courses - I better get playing!  The average commute time - this is for our California people ;-) - is just 19.3 minutes - how about them apples?

Lexington, KY is under 175 miles from 5 major cities - Cincinnati, OH - 1 hr+, Louisville, KY 1 hr, Knoxville, TN 2.5 hrs, Nashville, TN 3 hrs, Indianapolis, IN is just 2.5 hrs.  Then we are just 3 hrs to Columbus, OH, 4 hrs to St. Louis, MO, 5 hrs and a little bit to Chicago, IL or Atlanta, GA.  heck, look at the map, we are just 1 day’s drive to 75% of the US population.  source:  www.visitkentuckyusa.com

Lexington, Kentucky alone has over 3,000 acres of parks.  10,000 students graduate each year here in the Bluegrass.  Nearly 30,000 students go to the University of Kentucky right here in Lexington.  It is a huge campus - over 700 acres.

Lexington was ranked 9th best places for business and careers in 2004.  In 2007, for Best Cities in America for young singles to live, Lexington, KY came in 5th!

Come for a site visit this spring - you’ll be glad you did.  Call Cindy today 859-332-2000 ext 202

I hope you are having a great week. Here is another home we just sold in Lexington, KY.

We had some incredible buyers and I congratulate them on their purchase. They had great credit, got a great interest rate AND they are getting on our Fast-Track for paying their mortgage off in 10.4 years.plainviewpromosm.jpg

Ashley Estes listed this and found us a buyer in just a couple weeks - and in the worst time of the year to try to find buyers - supposedly.

Lately, the market has gotten wild. Some people are getting discouraged by it, however, I see it as a new opportunity. Whether you’re a seller, buyer, or an investor, this market is SO wide open to anyone who wants to take a step in any direction.

The problem today is that most people are asleep. We have a limited inventory and the market still favors sellers to a certain degree, while buyers are getting another shot at some of these incredible interest rates! —

You all are hearing the news - it seems it is on EVERYTHING - newspapers, TV, radio, etc. and you know exactly what’s going on. Take advantage of it!
